6. From measurement to dose

The relationships between the characteristics of a radioactive source, exposure and the consequences of the interaction of radiation with matter are complex. They are studied through dosimetry, the purpose of which is to assess dose. In the case of radon, the value of the internal dose received by exposed individuals is of great concern to specialists. The behavior in the body of a radioactive gas whose progeny are short-lived solid particles emitting alpha and beta particles is variable and difficult to assess.
