5. Examples of machines in terms of their coupled IGRT systems

5.1 Volumetric modulated arctherapy (VMAT)

In an arctherapy session, irradiation is performed with one or two continuous arcs around the patient (figure 20 , example of VMAT dosimetry). The tumor zone is irradiated with the greatest uniformity and precision, sparing healthy tissue as much as possible.
