11. Conclusion

This article gives a brief description of image processing techniques whose complexity is constantly increasing, reflecting the growing power of the computing processors (CPUs and other GPUs) that industry and research teams can use to implement them. Let's not forget, too, that a thorough understanding of the physics and intimate characteristics of detectors is a prerequisite for perfectly optimized image processing.

For example, some image processing software is only supplied in conjunction with a given detector, the whole package having been optimized to provide the best possible image for the various clinical use cases that can be envisaged.

Other software packages are marketed independently of the detector, but their users will have to do the parameterization work themselves, which is indispensable for obtaining "clinical" image quality....
