3. Application in the automotive industry
As research in the field of ADAS and AVs progresses, levels of automation are also increasing. With the development of ADAS, road safety is constantly improving, as demonstrated by the European eIMPACT project (2006-2008), which aimed to estimate the percentage reduction in the number of deaths based on the deployment rate of the main ADAS. The work showed that a 100% ADAS equipment rate can significantly reduce the number of deaths, as illustrated in Figure 8 . The number of driver assistance functions is constantly increasing, and the integration of increasingly varied and diverse sources of information is becoming essential for automation to reach level 5.
