Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI)

Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs) are the texts set out in European Directives 1996/48 and 2001/16 (both amended by Directive 2004/50) issued by the European Railway Agency concerning the interoperability of the European rail system. These two directives stipulate that the railway system is divided into five subsystems:

• infrastructure ;

• energy ;

• control and command ;

• rolling stock ;

• operation.
