6. Examples of PCS use cases
To briefly illustrate the richness of PCS systems, their diversity and particularities, a brief overview of some of the world's major ports is offered to complement the themes covered above.
6.1 Rotterdam PCS
All Dutch ports are currently being modernized using the PCS developed by Portbase, and initially deployed for the port of Rotterdam (figure 24 ). With nationwide coverage, Portbase offers over 40 services to some 3,200 companies in the maritime sector. Founded in 2002, the Port of Rotterdam was not one of the first European ports to equip itself with a PCS, the project having been initiated a few years earlier by InfoLink.
