5.1 Packaging standards and marking of packages
The ADR distinguishes between different types of containers for use in packaging dangerous goods:
simple packaging (drums, cans, crates, composite packaging) and combination packaging (several inner containers contained in an outer packaging), often grouped under the term "packaging," for which an instruction beginning with the letter "P" followed by three digits is indicated in column (8) of Table 3.2. For gases, packaging is referred to as "transportable pressure receptacles";
Intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), for which the packaging instruction begins with the letters "IBC" followed by three digits;
