2.1 Perform independent measurements

It is important to bear in mind that the number of measurement repetitions and the number of participating laboratories have an impact on the quality of the estimators calculated on the basis of the available measurements. Furthermore, each measured value is independent of the previous one, as far as possible. For example :

  • in the case of a measured object with a measurement support (mass on a balance, mechanical part with a caliper, etc.), the object is repositioned each time it is read;

  • when dosing a chemical compound, each measured value corresponds to a separate preparation.
