3. Structural requirements

This chapter contains various structural and organizational requirements.

First of all, the requirement for a technical manager, which was included in the previous version of the standard, has disappeared; what is now expected is a manager in the sense of the head of the laboratory: a line manager. It is up to the line manager to ensure that the tasks previously assigned to the technical manager are carried out, regardless of the function of those performing them.

As indicated in the introduction, the standard defines not only general organizational requirements, but also technical requirements which must be deployed for each feature subject to testing or calibration.
