5.1 Determine your documentation system based on your company's operations
The standard focuses on results, not means. In this sense, the company's documented information exists not because it is a requirement of ISO9001, but because the company deems it necessary for its operations. The documentation system is not an end in itself, but a tool for the quality management system. When drawing up a document system (or when questioning it), it's a question of examining the company's practices and operations, and then asking what document support and information management tools are needed (document, form, computerized system, etc.).
