6. Mistakes to avoid

6.1 Don't implement a method without understanding it

You'll easily find in documentation, standardization, statistics enabling you to test different characteristics, evaluate an uncertainty, identify a drift, and you'll sometimes even find the associated spreadsheet. But never use statistics without understanding them. You don't need to know how to re-demonstrate every test, but you do need to understand the principle to be sure of applying it correctly.
