4. Conclusions

Continuous flow analysis has developed very rapidly over the last twenty years, with a wide variety of applications in many sectors. There are several reasons for this rapid progress in the field of analysis.

One of the first advantages of the FIA is that it enables, in a simple and repeatable way, using a single-line reagent set-up, the reaction and/or dispersion of an injected sample with the constituents required to carry out the particular determination of an analyte in this sample.

More generally, the use of multiple reagent lines in continuous flow analysis enables the implementation of most of the chemical reactions required to complete an analytical determination.
