1. Infrared spectrometry

After seeing its privileged position threatened by other methods such as NMR or mass spectrometry, infrared spectrometry has seen a new lease of life, thanks to the development of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), enabling it to occupy a prime position, particularly in the analysis and characterization of polymeric materials. The possibilities offered by infrared spectrometry in the field of materials are numerous, and give rise to a wide range of applications. Infrared spectrometry provides detailed information on :

  • the chemical structure of macromolecules and polymer composition: identification of the basic unit, branching, analysis of chain ends, determination of the nature and concentration of additives, structural defects, impurities, etc.

  • intra- or intermolecular interactions, chain conformation, polymer...
