3. Datations based on artificial radioactivity and their applications
Other methods for dating very recent phenomena rely on the presence in the environment of isotopes produced by nuclear experiments carried out in the atmosphere (e.g. 14 C, 3 T, 137 Cs). Following their dispersion in the atmosphere, these elements fall back into the natural environment and, given their very low content or even absence in the natural environment, they can be used for dating. Here are two examples of their use.
