 INTRODUCTION

In the field of chemical analysis, spectrometry, or rather spectrometries, occupy a major space, both for the analysis of solid materials and for the analysis of liquid (and in some cases even gaseous) samples. If we confine ourselves to optical emission spectrometry (OES), here again a whole range of techniques are involved, from plasma-source optical emission spectrometry (ICP-SEO), more particularly used for the analysis of liquid samples, to optical emission spectrometry equipped with a glow discharge source, more oriented today towards the analysis of coatings, and laser-source optical emission spectrometry, currently undergoing industrial development. As for spark-source optical emission spectrometry, in its current industrial use, it is commonly applied to the analysis of solid metallic materials.

This technique is covered in two parts in the files and .
