6. Residual stress measurement. Internal stresses

Lightening the weight of structures and mechanical parts means using materials to their full potential. Taking into account residual (or internal) stresses resulting from manufacturing processes (solidification, shaping, machining, heat treatment in the mass or on the surface, assembly...) becomes fundamental, because of their influence, whether favorable or unfavorable, on properties of use.

6.1 Macroconstraints and microdeformations
