11.1 Inventory tools

Taking inventory of workstations, servers and equipment can be a tedious and error-prone task. In the IT world, there are tools capable of listing workstations and installed applications. In the OT world, however, this is not always possible, as equipment operating systems may be old or limited in functionality.

However, a number of network tools can be used, such as arp-scan. In addition, commercial tools with a graphical interface are beginning to appear.
