5. Conclusion

This article reviews the state of the art in multi-agent systems, focusing on the main aspects we felt were important. The richness and diversity of these approaches, which initially stemmed from a branch of AI that focused on the distribution of intelligence - distributed artificial intelligence - is clear to see. With the rise of new software technologies and object-oriented analysis and programming, this field has developed strongly.

This overview of multi-agent systems includes the fundamental elements that engineers need to know and use, either explicitly in the design of such systems or, implicitly, in the manipulation of a kernel that has already been developed.
