2. Problems arising in the design of multi-agent systems

This section looks at the various problems (and some solutions) involved in the design of multi-agent systems, i.e. the specification of an agent-oriented architecture and the interactions between agents.

2.1 Agent specification

The difficulty of specifying the notion of agent is currently unavoidable, since this notion is generic. However, in this paragraph we will attempt to highlight the main characteristics required to design these agents. These characteristics are :

  • the desired level of granularity ;
