3. Conclusion
Force feedback interfaces are powerful tools for controlling remote slave robots or virtual reality avatars. Subject to specific safety and performance constraints, users can interact effectively and intuitively in hostile or virtual environments, with force feedback.
In this article, the main criteria to be met by this type of interface and the usual values of these criteria were presented, along with the modeling and dimensioning tools used to achieve these values, and the technologies best suited to the field. The application of these tools was illustrated by two examples, the first concerning the design of a haptic interface for surgical gesture training, the second concerning the design of a force feedback glove for the design of automotive instrument panels in a virtual environment.
