3. Uncertainties affecting the realization of fixed points

This article is not intended for specialists in national metrology laboratories. The latter have access to the latest research results through participation in congresses, European (EURAMET) or international working groups (BIPM Thermometry Advisory Committee).

The aim of this article is to give those working in thermometry calibration laboratories a better understanding of the basis for determining the uncertainties shown on the calibration certificate supplied when their standard probe is connected to the ITS-90. For those who wish to integrate one or two fixed points into their laboratory equipment, the aim of this article is :

  • make them aware of the various physical phenomena that will impact the implementation of these fixed points;
