    AUTHOR

    • Paul SENTE: Senior engineer, head of department at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL, Belgium) - Head of the LACTION laboratory (intelligent actuators and sensors) - Member of the mechatronics research center (CEREM) - Lecturer at ECAM (Haute École Léonard de Vinci, Belgium)

     INTRODUCTION

In the first 2 parts [R 525v2] and [R 526v2] , we reviewed the architecture of a microprocessor-based data acquisition and processing chain, distinguishing its fundamental components and illustrating their specific roles with selected examples (first and second booklets). This third fascicule completes this architectural vision by evoking current technologies: a brief overview of the different families of microprocessors, with the aim of highlighting their advantages and disadvantages in the context of our application (chapter 1), is followed by an evocation of a few families of commercial systems enabling the "turnkey" resolution of a certain number of classic data acquisition and processing problems (chapter 2).
