Consider two sinusoidal signals of the same pulsation ω :

e 1 (t ) = A 1 sin ω t

and

e 2 (t ) = B 1  sin (ω t + ϕ )

ϕ is, by definition, the phase advance of e 2 (t ) over e 1 (t ), measured by the distance between two maxima or two zero crossings....
