5.1.1 Samples analyzed

To study the overall effect of burn-up rate, three types of sample were used: SIMFUELs (Simulated Spent Fuel), samples from the international HBRP (High Burn-up Rim Project) program and samples from a fuel rod called "N118". The SIMFUELs were produced either at ITU Karlsruhe or by AECL at Chalk River. Further details of their chemical composition can be found in the reference
