3.1 Control operations

Measuring instruments must be of acceptable quality and be used correctly and fairly. In practice, this means that inspection must take place at three levels:

  • at the design stage, with the type examination (formerly known as "model approval");

  • during the manufacturing process, including initial inspection of the instruments produced;

  • and finally in service, including installation verification, verification of repaired instruments and periodic verification.
