INTRODUCTION
A motto marked the birth of the decimal metric system in 1789: "To all times, to all peoples". To ensure that this motto can be applied universally, major efforts are being made in many countries, notably France and Europe, to organize and disseminate metrology.
In January 2005, to better meet the needs of industry, science and society, the French government entrusted LNE with the responsibility of managing the French national metrology network. As a metrology player, organizer and decision-maker in scientific programs, what are LNE's responsibilities in this context? Who are its partners, and how is the network organized? The aim of this article is to answer these questions.
