6. Conclusion

The phenomenon of acoustic noise of magnetic origin radiated by electrical machines stems from the interaction of several fields of physics. As such, it is often complex to grasp, and although it has been studied for almost a century, it remains an important subject of research. Taking it into account right from the design phase requires the development of multiphysics tools, where analytical or semi-analytical methods are appropriate for coupling with optimization tools.

The harmonic components of magnetic noise are sensitive to a large number of parameters that are sometimes difficult to estimate (current harmonics, saturation, etc.). So, although analytical models can provide a number of useful indications as to the origin of the noise produced by the machine, numerical models are required to assess it quantitatively.
