2. Activities and players of scientific third-sector organizations

2.1 Variable role in research activities

Research activities can be characterized according to the degree of involvement of the players concerned. This degree of involvement can be characterized and graded according to the following grid, taken from figure 1 :

  • organizations that occasionally mobilize volunteer professional experts (at a press conference or symposium, for example) and follow the scientific literature at some distance;

  • organizations that monitor published works and studies, such as Inf'OGM (Information critique et indépendante sur les organismes génétiquement modifiés) or AVICENN (Association...
