3. The engineer's role in the scientific third sector

What about engineers in the many dimensions of the scientific third sector, which we have tried to describe and distinguish above? At first glance, the considerations, issues, experiments and actions covered by this area of technical, technological, scientific and expert activity may seem far removed from those of engineers, if only because of the militant character often associated with the practices and practitioners of the scientific third sector. And yet, it seems to us that engineers can play a full part in the dynamics that are at work here. Let's take a look at a few aspects.
