8. Conclusion and outlook

We developed artificial nutrients and saw the important role now played by the food industry in the development of various nutrient solutions, particularly enteral nutrition. We also saw the industry's role in producing feeding probes, pumps and packaging for these nutrients.

As far as medical nutritionists are concerned, a key area of research is emerging: therapeutic nutrition. In the future, but we have already begun to do so, our role will be to create nutrient mixtures adapted and elective to the most frequently encountered pathological conditions: cancer, HIV seropositivity, respiratory pathologies, inflammatory pathologies of the small intestine...

It will be up to us to define the best nutrients to use in these various states to slow down certain evolutionary processes and, in particular, increase the body's defense reactions....
