2. Defense and management organization

2.1 Definition

With the exception of organic farming, SIQOs are based on collective approaches, reflected in the French Code Rural et de la Pêche Maritime (CRPM) by the concept of the Organisme de Défense et de Gestion (ODG). An essential cornerstone in the life of a SIQO, the ODG is organized on the initiative of a group of operators, including producers and/or processors, who produce the same product and join forces within a structure to support the process of SIQO recognition, draw up specifications, take part in inspections, and protect and promote the product.
