To overcome the limitations of conventional SPIR techniques, CRA-W has turned to the latest generation of near-infrared microscopy and near-infrared imaging instruments. With conventional SPIR techniques, analysis of a sample yields a single infrared spectrum. In contrast, with a near-infrared microscope and a near-infrared camera, several hundred or even several thousand spectra are acquired during each analysis of a compound food sample
