7. Choice of solutions for tool design
The design itself is always the result of a choice between solutions that meet the functional specifications more or less well. Design applies to all solutions, whether tangible (equipment, plant) or intangible (procedures, rules, interventions).
7.1 Different types of solutions
We distinguish four types of solution, which should be studied in the stated order to avoid backtracking:
