2. Beet storage, receiving and washing

The stages preceding the actual beet processing are an integral part of the process, and require the same attention.

2.1 Storage

Beet is stored at the edge of the field and in the factory:

  • at the edge of fields, these are "silos" that look like simple piles, but whose structure (height, width, orientation) is carefully designed to ensure good aeration;

  • In factories, storage capacity generally does not exceed 48 hours, enabling continuous operation of the factory, even when no beet is received, at night and at weekends. The factories are responsible for organizing the reception.
