3. Reuse in another industry

A product that a manufacturer considers waste can be recycled as a raw material or used as fuel. With this in mind, ADEME, in partnership with the Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has established a waste exchange to facilitate this type of transaction ( http://www.bourse-des-dechets.fr ). A search conducted in May 2025 showed that no sludge was listed on the exchange at that time.

Seventeen categories of waste have been identified: these include metals, bulky items (such as furniture and appliances), oils, wood, solvents and chemical residues, textiles, paints, inks and adhesives, soil, sand and stones, food waste, yard waste, construction and demolition waste, paper and cardboard, plastics, glass, automotive waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment...
