5. Conclusion
OHT is a new process for the destruction of organic compounds that yields excellent results. In less than one minute, organic waste diluted to between 2% and 15% in water is completely oxidized under operating conditions of 30 MPa and 400–500 °C.
Furthermore, the effluents produced at the end of the process require no post-treatment to be directly environmentally compatible.
However, further development efforts are still needed regarding reactor design to ensure trouble-free operation when the composition of the waste to be treated includes high concentrations of halides. For these designs, operational demonstrations on an industrial or semi-industrial scale still need to be conducted, for example through the establishment of demonstration platforms.
