Environmental assessment is the process by which an applicant assesses the impact of a project on the environment (impact study) and the public gives its opinion on the project (public inquiry).
Heading 1 of the nomenclature of projects subject to environmental assessment (annexed to article R. 122-2 of Code de l’environnement ) stipulates that projects for environmentally classified facilities subject to registration must undergo an environmental assessment in two cases.
