Are there any models for calculating the effects of a cold BLEVE?

There is no model recognized by the authorities for estimating the effects associated with a cold BLEVE. The effects associated with this phenomenon are therefore conservatively assumed to be equivalent to those generated by a hot BLEVE. As a result, the distinction between the notions of a hot BLEVE and a cold BLEVE finds its limit here.

How does the TRC model work?

It corresponds to a phenomenological approach based on test results from British Gas. Unlike other models, which consider a stationary state, this model takes into account the evolution of fireball characteristics (diameter, height, emittance) over time.

The modeling of the fireball, which remains semi-empirical, takes into account three main stages:
