4. Conclusion

The use of technosols for the design of green infrastructure in urban and even peri-urban environments is a very good alternative to the consumption of natural resources such as topsoil, aggregates or peat from surrounding or distant rural areas. Built-up technosols can contribute to sustainable environments in urban contexts, as they provide multiple functions and services for various land uses. However, every element used in their design needs to be carefully evaluated: the ratio and composition of wastes, the order of horizons, the choice of plant species, implementation methods and solutions that will promote pedogenic processes. What's more, it's certain that many scientific studies to come will discover other beneficial applications for them in other contexts (e.g. agromining of metals, treatment of industrial effluents).
