Acetogenesis

Acetogenesis is the bacterial synthesis of acetic acid (or ethanoic acid) through the aerobic oxidation of ethanol, the fermentation of hexoses, or autotrophic formation from ${\text{CO}}_2$ and from ${\text{H}}_2$ Acetogenesis refers to the synthesis of acetate, which involves the formation of acetate through the reduction of ${\text{CO}}_2$ and the formation of acetate from organic acids.
