Adsorption (not to be confused with absorption) always involves a solid (usually porous) known as an "adsorbent" and a solute in the liquid or gaseous phase known as an "adsorbate," which can attach itself to the surface of the adsorbent.
Bulk density
This is the flow rate of the feed water through a filter relative to the volume of material contained in the filter. Expressed in m 3 /(h·m 3 ) or in h –1 , the volumetric load is primarily used in ion exchange, adsorption, and filtration processes involving various materials.
