7. Summary of treatment methods by dissolved substance

Within the scope of this article, certain other major categories of processes could have been the subject of additional chapters. These include coagulation processes (which precede flocculation and clarification) which, in addition to removing suspended particles and colloids, have a significant effect on the removal of dissolved (oxidizable) organic matter (COD, CODB, COD…), color, and certain metals and organic micropollutants (see the TI article [G 1 170] ).
