 INTRODUCTION

Researchers and chemical engineers are building an industry that is more compatible with our environment, by providing concrete answers to the challenge of sustainable development. In particular, research into the replacement of toxic (organic) solvents is currently enjoying remarkable growth.

Similarly, a number of innovative processes for treating organic waste have emerged, including hydrothermal oxidation processes, which are extremely efficient and comply with regulatory constraints.

High-performance analytical tools have also been developed to combat counterfeit drugs, and are used by the police in criminal investigations.
