4. Industrial applications

They are many and varied, but only industrial or semi-industrial applications will be discussed in the following paragraphs, along with some projects in the industrialization phase, such as fuel cells.

4.1 Jewelry and decorative enamels

The West has always favored gold and silver as base metals for jewelry. In Asia, white metals are more popular; demand for platinum began to grow in Japan in the 1960s, and in China in 1995: Asia has always preferred platinoids, partly because of their skin tone. Jewelry consumes just over a third of the world's platinum requirements, i.e. 85 t: Japan and China account for 80% of this total.
