1.1 Two main modeling approaches

A model is a simplified representation of a real-world system. It provides information on the essential aspects of the system, while neglecting the less important details. In this way, it enables us to better understand and manipulate reality. However, given the limitations of current physics, the sometimes limited and biased experimental data, and the computational constraints, a critical approach to model results is essential. Moreover, the choice of model to be used depends on the intended application, since each has its own specific advantages and disadvantages.
