7. Conclusion

Fundamental knowledge of LI has advanced significantly over the last fifteen years. LI are characterized by an almost immeasurable structural diversity. They possess many interesting properties, not least of which is their unique liquid structure. In order to make the most of this diversity, a great deal of effort has been devoted to modeling and predictive analysis of these systems, with mixed results. At the same time, they have been used in a wide variety of applications, some of them highly original in terms of their original purpose. However, this has hardly gone beyond the laboratory or semi-pilot stage. One wonders why this is the case, despite the fact that LI continues to be a fascinating environment. Three highly correlated pitfalls have contributed to this slowdown. The first has been to oversell the "green chemistry" aspect of LI, which, as we have seen, does not correspond...
