 INTRODUCTION

JavaScript is now the language of the web, both on servers and in browsers, whether running on phones, tablets, or computers. This article provides a summary of the language (in its ECMAScript 2015 version) and its main features, enabling readers with some IT experience to understand the key characteristics of this programming language. Obviously, not everything will be covered (the standard is 566 pages long), but the essentials will be.

The examples in this article do not have a uniform tone; they vary in style, sometimes using advanced features or minor features that are not necessarily detailed in the text, but which illustrate the range of possibilities offered by ECMAScript 2015.
