5. Generic architecture of an anti-counterfeiting technical solution

An authentication solution involves a chain of actors and processes, from the creation of the authenticating element to its control.

Authentication aims to acquire a certain level of certainty as to the authenticity of a product, in order to be able to produce evidence. This certainty is acquired by verifying the authenticity of the product's "authenticating elements", chosen from the range of devices on offer. As a result, the way in which these authenticating elements are generated, produced, marked (in whatever form) and captured must be secure, as must their association with the product to be protected.

An authentication solution includes :

  • creation of authenticating element(s) ;

  • integration or association of the authenticating element(s) with the product;
