7. A step towards solution certification?

Technical devices are designed to facilitate checks by providing a strong presumption of authenticity (or non-authenticity).

If the absence of authenticating elements is an indication that a product is probably counterfeit, the presence and conformity of these elements must be sufficiently reliable to guarantee authenticity. The rightful owner's credibility and liability are at stake.

The choice of a technical protection solution is at the discretion of the rightful owner. The ISO 12931 standard supports the choice by indicating the critical points to be considered, but in the final analysis, the choice is his or her own.
