4. Conclusion

The distribution of goods is not an optional extra: it's a sector essential to the sovereignty, sustainability and performance of a nation, and quite simply to everyone's daily life. Logistics chains are made up of flows and stops/stocks. Optimizing operations, both economically and ecologically, depends on the proper coordination of the various links.

The infrastructure required for passenger transport and transit – is usually financed by public funds – and has been planned for a long time; this is not the case for logistics facilities (warehouses), which are essentially private investments. Nevertheless, warehouses must be considered as general-purpose facilities, vital to the supply performance needed by companies, local authorities and citizens everywhere.
